Dare to Bare with Fabulous Fall Skin Care

Just because the calendar says it’s fall, doesn’t mean you have to run to put on long sleeves and turtlenecks. There’s plenty of time for you to show off your summertime toned arms and legs. But the air will get dryer—that means your skin will, too.

Our friends at A Women’s Health offer great suggestions on how to keep your skin’s summer glow going well into the fall. Among the suggestions:

  • Ditch the soap. “Soapy scrubs might feel wonderful after a day at the beach, but they leave your skin dry,” the article says. “When fall arrives, switch to a soap-free hydrating cleanser.”
  • Switch from lotion to cream. “As the air becomes drier, your skin needs a thicker moisturizer,” according to the article. “Creams provide a stronger oilybarrier, which means they both reduce water loss from the outer layer of skin and provide hydration.”
  • Protect your lips. “Start moisturizing now to prevent dry, cracked lips this winter,” they suggest. “Use a non-petroleum based lip balm for best results.”
