The Benefits of “Staying a Student”

Welcome to World Conference Week!

We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary of Pure Romance with World Conference in our home town of Cincinnati! We are thrilled to have you here and are excited about all you’ll experience, whether it’s your first time, or if you’re a returnee.

You know that I love to talk about the importance of #stayingastudent, and World Conference is a great way to learn best practices, sales tips and business management from some of the top experts in the country. But there’s scientific evidence that shows if you #stayastudent, it’s good for your health, too.

An article in the Harvard Business Review tells us that lifelong learning habits are good for not just your brain, but for your wallet and your social life. Author John Coleman notes that reading, even for short periods of time, can dramatically reduce stress levels—and don’t we all need that these days!

Coleman also notes that “those who dedicate themselves to learning and who exhibit curiosity are almost always happier and more socially and professionally engaging than those who don’t.” Think about when you come to World Conference: You get to interact with fellow Consultants from around the world, you have the chance to exchange ideas, and you get to party with some of the best party people around! That’s a terrific combination.

Coleman concludes: “The reasons to continue learning are many, and the weight of the evidence would indicate that lifelong learning isn’t simply an economic imperative but a social, emotional, and physical one as well.”
