Stop and Thank You, Baby

PattyThanksgivingBlogI was sitting in an airport Starbuck’s the other day feeling especially grateful, when all of a sudden lyrics from a song playing on the radio interrupted my thoughts:  “I want to stop and Thank you, Baby.  How sweet it is to be loved by you.” Isn’t that always just the way? It also seemed very apropos with Thanksgiving just around the corner. Many people equate this song with romance, but the funny thing about it was that the first thing I actually thought of was my family and all of the amazing Consultants that have continued to inspire me for over 20 years in this business!

When a Consultant comes up to me at one of our Pure Romance events and shares how her business has changed her life, I get a chill up my spine and sometimes the hair literally stands up on my arms.  It’s so easy to focus on the negative in life; yet, I’ve found that focusing on the positives and counting our blessings on a daily basis is the true path to happiness.  The glass is truly half full for those who have love in their lives. We are especially lucky because we get to do what we love for a living which is icing on the cake.

We are all guilty of falling into holding patterns now and then; we all know what it’s like to be coasting along, smooth sailing, and then suddenly fall in the proverbial ditch of negativity.  The person who gets it is the person who can pick themselves up when that happens and think deeply about what is right in their lives.  All you have to do is open your eyes and pay attention – even when you’re just out and about running daily errands. Pay attention to the man who holds the door for the stranger at the grocery store, that woman who has 10,000 things in her shopping cart during the holiday season and lets someone with one item in front of her in line, or even the person who smiles at you at the gas station, just because. There is goodness all around us if you are open to seeing it, and believe you me, there’s nothing more contagious than gratitude.

This Thanksgiving, challenge yourself to do more than focus on the amazing feast. Give back to a cause you care about, or take a day to help at the local soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Whatever it may be, it’s your way of “stopping” to say thank you for all that others have given you.

From all of us at Pure Romance, we wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
