Pure Romance Holiday Bookings

Get ready Pure Romance Consultants, Black Friday is just a few weeks away, which means it’s time to kick your holiday parties and packaging into high gear! It’s time to start putting holiday flyers out at your Pure Romance parties and in Hostess bags, or pass them out with your business cards at networking events. Get on it, Ladies! The easier you make holiday shopping on your customers the better!

When I was a Consultant, I loved hosting a Holiday Open House (where do you think the Pure Romance Corporate Valentine’s Day Warehouse Sale first started?). It is a great way to get people who normally didn’t book a party around the holidays to stop by without committing to hosting a party. So many of your customers will be stuck in entertainment mode over the next two months, so inviting them to your home for an Open House takes a ton of pressure off them, and that accommodating gesture also translates into more sales for you. You can also make it more convenient for them by pre-packaging products for gifts. I always brought gift bags and tissue paper and wrapped for my customers at the party.

Pure Romance is launching its own holiday gift sets on November 14th, but there’s still so much you can do in the meantime to dress up your own products and create gift baskets that will leave a lasting impression. ULine is a wonderful 24-hour giftwrap and packaging website that is affordable and will ensure your party gifts look beautiful. How a product is presented is just as important as the quality of the product itself. If you have to make your dollar stretch (like many do during the holiday gift-giving season), take a walk down the aisle of your neighborhood Dollar Store. Michaels also has so many products to help you get crafty and always offer incredible discounts. Both of these stores have an impressive collection of cute gift bags and the like to help you get more creative.

You can also add some fun holiday details like a hot chocolate corner and wrapping station. Invite your Consultants from your team to shadow you so they can do the same thing next year and become more seasoned. I would often encourage my team to book parties or pass out cards at my Open Houses; after all, when your team is successful, you will be successful. And a good leader is always proud to see her team succeed.

When it comes to holiday parties, Open Houses or gift packaging, it’s not just limited to November and December. These are great ideas to use for Valentine’s Day and other holidays throughout the year. When you have your client’s attention, don’t forget to promote our upcoming new product launch in January and incentivize them to book a party in preparation for Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year!

Just Breathe!

Consultants reading this know we do what we love, and we work smarter, not harder, doing it.  At our corporate headquarters, it’s no different. We put our heart and soul into everything we do for our Pure Romance family, and sometimes that means there’s little time for resting.

Last month, our staff worked tirelessly, day and night during National Training so we gave back to them with a special thank you – desk-side massages! My motto has always been to make sure you take time to pamper and reward yourself for a job well done. If you’re not healthy, you’re not going to be much help to anyone else – and our business is all about helping others!

One thing I’ve found life changing is yoga, meditation and just breathing and I’m not the only one! Recent Harvard studies found that the brain actually changes after long-term meditation and mindfulness. There have been many times I’ve been working on something at my desk and I stop and realize my shoulders are tense and my breath is short – I’ve learned to let go and let my body be at peace. We also reinforce this with our staff offering meditation and yoga through certified trainers at our office. It helps keep us in check and ultimately balanced and healthy.

Life is moving faster than ever. If you’re a Pure Romance Consultant, I strongly recommend looking into these types of classes in your community. You would be amazed how much it can impact your business. Just focusing on your breathing and releasing stress from your body before a party can make a world of a difference in how your customers respond to you and even your sales! When I’m on the road, I’ve found that a lot of our Consultants are using these wonderful techniques already – it shows they are putting themselves first; that might sound narcissistic to some, but I disagree. There’s an old saying I grew up with: “If Mama ain’t happy, aint’ nobody happy!” and there’s something to be said for that. If we can’t find outlets to get rid of and manage our stress, we just aren’t of use to anyone. That being said…take a few moments and just breathe!

Dear Mom,

This is the first Mother’s Day without you here.  I keep thinking to myself that I wish I could be taking you to a special brunch this morning, but instead we’ll be celebrating your life and legacy.

I thank God every day that I had the opportunity to be with you during your final days.  Throughout your pain, you continued to be a spirit of hope.  You taught me what it was to fight with dignity.  But most importantly, you shared with me some lessons that have changed my life over the last year.

Life has a funny way of teaching us like that—it was during some of your weakest moments that you taught me life’s greatest lessons.  And for that, I am forever thankful!

Thank you for teaching me that love multiplies.

As a mother, you think you can’t possibly love anyone or anything more than your children.  Then, grandchildren come along and prove you all wrong.

Being a grandma is truly one of life’s greatest gifts and the relationship with a grandchild is one that cannot be put into words. As a grandmother, or as my ten grandkids call me, Mimi, you’re able to love fully with less worry. The pressure of creating the rules or keeping a roof over their head is no longer a distraction. You’re able to live in the moment and cherish your time together.  Thank you for reminding me to make the most of each opportunity I get to be with them.

Thank you for teaching me to be courageous.

You shared with me your regret over not confronting some of the more difficult conversations with your children over the years.  You told me that you wish you would have said and done more.  Please know, that I was listening to each and every word and they’ve helped me to be brave enough to do this with my own children.

As our families continue to grow, we tackle new challenges and changes, and that often means talking with one another through those often-difficult experiences. Although it can be uncomfortable, you reminded me that we have to sometimes continue to be a parent and not a “friend” to our children. We sometimes have to show them how much we truly love them by taking a harder stance.  And most importantly, we have to give our children time to go find themselves and to seek the answers on their own.

Thank you for teaching me the importance of hard work.

You had the most incredible work ethic.  Mom, you taught me the power of ambition, strength and dedication.  You lead by example and I carried those hard-work lessons with me when I started my own business.

My only wish is that you would have rewarded yourself more and taken more time for you‑you deserved it. I share this lesson with my friends who constantly make everyone else a priority. “It’s okay to treat yourself and put yourself first—you earned it.” And today, on Mother’s Day, I think this message is more important than ever.  Every woman out there (mothers, grandmothers, step-mothers, aunts, and any women who gives of herself to mentor others) should do something wonderful for herself today, and I hope someone is doing something thoughtful for you, too.

I wish I had said more of this when you were here. I would love for one more conversation with you so I could tell you all this in person. But I hope you’re celebrating today in Heaven with Grandma Jewel, as you told me she was with you during your final days.

Love you always,

Track your Orgasms…?

I recently read an article on Forbes.com, and wanted to share it with all of you. The feature talks about activity tracker “wearables” that may soon allow you to track your orgasms. (Now that I have your attention!) An activity tracker is a device that is used for monitoring and tracking fitness-related metrics such as running, walking and sometimes heartbeat or sleep.

Imagine the amount of measurable data that could be gathered in regards to sexual health and sexuality with something like this. Think of that woman whose own physician has told her time and time again that issues with sexual pleasure are all in her mind. Being able to share information gathered by this device with your doctor is a good first step in opening up the floor about your sexual health. He or she isn’t with you every day tracking your sexual activity or physical response to intimacy and pleasure; this is an interesting way to allow your health care professional in on that world in a more scientific way.

It also could help increase communication among couples. Being able to openly look at the data gathered by this type of wearable could allow for dialogue that otherwise might have been uncomfortable. On another note, it could even encourage couples to be more intimately active – as we all know, practice makes perfect applies to all aspects in life!

The developers claim that you will also be able to track heartbreak (although many of us would like to forget that as soon as possible).

One wearable that’s been getting mixed media attention over the past few months is the Fitbit. Regardless of your view on whether they do or do not accurately track your heart rate, many do find this type of wearable a good way to stay committed to fitness. In my experience, I found that the FitBit helped keep me on track, get into juicing and make 2016 a year about becoming a better, healthier me – not just about losing weight. I’m hoping something like this new wearable could have the same effect on couples and help enhance sexual health and awareness in the process.

Pure Romance Takes New York City!

We recently traveled to the Big Apple to attend several media events to help spread the word of the amazing work our Consultants  are doing and highlight our products leading up to Valentine’s Day. This trip was a long-time in the making; it all started last year at the Pink Ribbon Luncheon when I was honored at the event. Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts was the featured speaker and I was so excited about the opportunity to hear her tell her story in person. I start every single one of my mornings with her and can’t think of a woman I admire more. She has inspired so many with her strength and determination in overcoming life-threatening experiences: especially with her battle with breast cancer and subsequent blood cancer and bone marrow transplant. Watching her speak that day, I was moved beyond words. It goes without saying, I bid on the event’s Good Morning America auction package to visit the set of my favorite anchorwoman.

Fast-forward to 2016, where we reunited with Robin on set in New York and received a behind the scenes look at how the show is produced (it was like a well-oiled machine, by the way!). I’ve also never been on any talk show set (besides Live! Kelly and Michael) that was so warm and friendly.

No matter how busy and hectic it was, Robin took her time to make sure she introduced me to everyone she worked with, and she showed incredible thoughtfulness by remembering our earlier conversations about The Patty Brisben Foundation for Women’s Sexual Health. This gave me the opportunity to continue this dialogue with many of the others there that day, which was a huge honor. They embraced the message and showed sincere interest in exploring it further in the future. It was awesome to see national media influencers understanding that sexual health is the pink elephant in the room, and to hear them agree that it’s a topic that everyone needs to address. It fueled me even further to continue pressing further in this arena.

Pure Romance Consultants aren’t the only ones who challenge themselves to step outside of their comfort zones advocating on behalf of women’s sexual health and intimacy. We also push ourselves; that continued with a subsequent blogger and journalist event at the Museum of Sex, which led to coverage in a few blogs, such as Urban Milan: Valentine’s Gifts for Her, and prospects for many more.

My PR Director, Suzanne Murray, stepped out of her comfort zone volunteering for an on-air dance competition (and winning) on Live! Kelly and Michael Show later in the week! I love that our team, much like our Consultants, does life different. Because of Suzanne’s boldness, we were able to get Pure Romance gift boxes in the hands of Kelly and Michael!

We also stopped by to visit our old friends at The View to provide a beautiful audience giveaway including some of Pure Romance’s top pampering products and my favorite perfume, Truly Sexy – Flirt.  We had to go in early that morning for their crew to shoot the product before the show went on air. It was a quick process because the packaging is so beautiful and elegant – we felt proud to watch New York-based producers on a national broadcast show gawking at the boutique-like products. They were excited and impressed with it. Some had heard of it, and those who hadn’t couldn’t wait to check it out. 12669505_957724584303950_8594364928424492062_n

This was the day I was the most afraid – mainly because I knew that this segment was all about our Consultants and it was so important to me to make sure that the little amount of time I had to talk about our Pure Romance mission and products was loud and clear. I wanted to make sure that more than anything that during my interview portion I got the message across that we are a company that focuses on enhancing communication in relationships, first and foremost. I was most proud of the product shot because I believe they speak for themselves, and the world got to see the beautiful packaging and that we have a wide array of products – truly something for everyone.

FullSizeRender-2For those of you who want legitimacy and to show your clients you are working for the top relationship company in the world, take advantage of this national exposure.  Use the clips, pictures, and blog mentions to your advantage; it is a great way to showcase the products, and is yet another reason to reach out to your customers.  Check out how Executive Director Dana Barish pushed this out on her social media network.

On Social Media, it might have looked like our trip was just filled with shopping, work and fun (you can have fun while working), but hopefully this blog shows that we were there for you, and that we were a team of people who went in there with a job and got it done!
