New Dawn, New Year, New YOU!

Happy 2019! The dawn of a new year brings so many new possibilities for all of us, both personally and professionally. While we may be ready to turn the calendar to a new page, new month, new year, there are ways that all of us can make this year our best ever. And a lot of it starts with how we approach this new beginning.

Our friends at letsmovellc.com have some great suggestions on how to get ready to hit the new year running by getting organized. That way, you can start on your 2019 plans without being bogged down by clutter.

First, they say, look at how being organized will make your life better, including less stress and more energy, being more productive and being able to spend more time doing things you love to do (because you won’t be spending so much time running around trying to find things!!). Here are a couple of their suggestions on how to get organized and get 2019 off on the right foot:

  • Create morning and evening routines. Having your first 90 minutes of the day organized sets the tone for the rest of the day. Remember the old saying: If you sleep late, the day controls you but if you’re up early, you control the day. If you havethe first hour and a half of your day running smoothly, there’s a good chance the rest of the day will fall into place as well.
  • Organize one area of your home each month. Break down each room into tasks, then don’t move to the next job until the first one is done. There’s no rush, but keep to the one-month deadline. You’ll be amazed how the work speeds up once you see the results!

The new year is also a great time to get your business organized. As a small business owner, you know how important it is to keep bookings, sales and inventory organized to set you up for success! Pure Romance offers a number of online tools to help you do just that, and we encourage you to take advantage of all those resources. Here are some other organizational suggestions, courtesy of the website The Balance Small Business:

  • Take control of your papers and documents. Don’t we all get bogged down by paper? Some is necessary, of course, for our business, but some just isn’t. Figure out what you need and what you can recycle, then decide how to organize, whether it’s by files or digital scanning.
  • Clean up your computer, and yes, that includes files and folders you keep onyour desktop. If you can’t recognize the image you have as your desktop screensaver, then maybe it’s time to clean up some of those old files!
