Creativity for a Cause

This past weekend I attended two amazing events benefitting breast health and breast cancer awareness including the “Bras with Flair on the Square” and the 7th Annual Breast Cancer Brick Auction.

Pure Romance was thrilled to be invited to donate a corporately-decorated bra to be auctioned off as part of Cincy Chic’s “Bras with Flair on the Square” last week. Individuals, companies, clubs, organizations, as well as local and national celebrities decorated and donated bras which were displayed in the heart of downtown Cincinnati on Fountain Square on October 24th and 25th with proceeds from the auction benefitted the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure Fund. I had the opportunity to stop down to the event on Friday and was impressed at how such a fun and original idea had manifested into a wonderful benefit to fight breast cancer.

Equally impressive was the 7th Annual Breast Cancer Brick Auction where bricks salvaged from the rubble of old buildings were transformed into stunning works of art and auctioned to raise money for local breast Cancer agencies; additionally, Pure Romance was honored to donate two gift packages to be raffled off for such a wonderful cause. As I walked around the Sharonville Convention Center admiring the display of bricks, I couldn’t help but think how incredibly remarkable it was that these artists had taken something as plain and simple as a brick and created a beautiful work of art. I bid on several pieces including a playful rendition of Marilyn Monroe called “Some Like it Hot” and ended up taking home three other awe-inspiring bricks. One of the bricks that I brought home with me was entitled “The Long Hair Hippie” and came complete with a full head of hair!
