Pure Romance Races for the Cure

Storm wind from Hurricane Ike wasn’t the only thing to make an impact in Cincinnati this past Sunday; almost 200 members of “Team Pure Romance” arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed bright and early at the start line of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Mason, Ohio. The annual race was a huge success with over 15,000 individuals participating in the event, all to raise money to help the fight to end breast cancer.

Sponsoring the event for the 3rd year in a row, we were pleased to see Consultants travel from all over to join the corporate staff, family and friends. The 5 K walk is always a moving experience as participants don celebratory and memorial shirt tags to commemorate those in their lives who have been affected by breast cancer. Equally touching, local cheerleading squads and bands set up along the way to cheer the walkers on, while many families applauded from the sidelines of their lawns with homemade construction paper signs urging us to “Clap for” a breast cancer survivor they know or love.

There isn’t much more of a powerful way to bring awareness to this important cause in the community and I encourage all of you to participate in next year’s race, whether here in Cincinnati or in the city you live. I want to personally thank everyone that gave their time and energy to Team Pure Romance and to making this event an overall success. We look forward to putting together an even bigger team in 2009!
